Daniella Taglieri, OAM, has dedicated her career to the development and wellbeing of young people through both education and scouting. With a rich background in leadership and community service, she has made significant contributions to Scouts Victoria and the Victorian Department of Education and Training.

Awards and Recognitions

Daniella’s exceptional service to scouting has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Silver Emu from Scouts Australia in 2021, the Silver Wattle in 2014, the Silver Arrowhead in 2009, and the Queen's Scout Award in 2001. She was also honored with the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for her service to youth through Scouts and education.

Qualifications

Daniella holds a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Science, along with certifications in Adolescent Counselling, Frontline Management, Leadership, and Career Development. These extensive qualifications underpin her expertise in both teaching and leadership.

Professional Journey in Education

Daniella's career in education spans over two decades, beginning in 2004 as a teacher of Mathematics and Chemistry. Her dedication and passion for student development led her to take on various leadership positions at Mullauna College. She served as the Year 7 Coordinator from 2006 to 2010, then advanced to Leading Teacher, Head of Middle School, and Year 8 and 9 Coordinator from 2011 to 2014. In 2014, she became the Director of Student Leadership and Engagement, followed by Director of Classroom Pedagogy in 2015. From 2016 to 2021, Daniella was the Director of Student Development, Student Management, and Wellbeing Team. Since 2020, she has been the Student Wellbeing Coordinator, shaping policies and programs that enhance student learning and wellbeing.

Scouting Leadership

Daniella's commitment to scouting is equally impressive. She has been an integral part of Scouts Victoria, serving as Deputy Chief Commissioner since 2020 and Assistant Commissioner in 2018 and 2019. In 2022, she was the Deputy Director for People and Wellbeing on the Jamboree Organising Council. Since 2018, she has been a key team member of LeaderBuild and has managed the Annual Leader of Adults Conferences in Melbourne from 2018 to 2022. Daniella has been the Director of Camberwell Showtime since 2007 and was part of the Entertainment Team at the 21st Australian Jamboree in Elmore in 2007. Her leadership also extends to the Boroondara District and 4th Preston Scout Group, where she served as Rover Advisor and District Joey Leader from 2012 to 2014, and the 1st Balwyn Scout Group, where she has been a Joey Scout Leader since 2001.

2022 Queen's Birthday Honours

Scouts Victoria is thrilled by the announcement that Daniella Taglieri was awarded the OAM in 2022 Queen's Birthday Honours. Victoria’s first female Deputy Chief Commissioner, Daniella has also become the first woman to act in the role of Chief Commissioner. Her award recognises her attitude, contribution and outcomes, for which we’re very grateful. We caught up with Daniella to talk about her service and motivation.
